Hi, I'm Lauren!
I started taking pictures when I was 6 or 7 years old, around the time my parents realized they could pass off the role of family photographer to me (they were thrilled). I haven't stopped taking photos since, even when my kids beg me to. I'm a great mom like that.
I love true crime (probably a little too much - it soothes me to sleep), my sound-cancelling headphones save my sanity daily, and if I ever get free time (ha...ha...ha...), you can find me curled up with a good book.
Now, I can't wait to get to know YOU, so if you want to send me your own "About Me" page (a voice note summary works too!), it would make my day.
I mean, I'm biased, but...
These aren’t “just” pictures. These moments in your life only happen once.
Time passes us by too quickly, even on the days where it feels like they're dragging on.
You’ve worked too damn hard to raise these kids to not capture the little moments forever. It’s time to put down the phone, get in the frame, and let me take charge for 30 minutes.
It’ll be chaotic. That’s okay. Chaos is beautiful; I can’t wait to show you.
I lived on a sailboat as a kid for five years with my mom, dad, and younger brother. We sailed around most of the world while my parents homeschooled us. Yeah, they're a special kind of crazy (brave). While on this trip, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and it became clear that my brother had dyslexia, so my parents sold our boat, bought a car on eBay, and moved us back to the U.S.
I have three kids of my own; Teddy (6), Zooey (3), and Addie (2). They both complete and destroy me.
(Seriously though, I really love them)
I started my photography business shortly after finishing up my TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) treatments in September, 2023. Shockingly, after TMS effectively treated my medication-resistant depression and anxiety, I was left with levels of energy I hadn't experienced in years and the desire to funnel my creativity into something meaningful.
Around the same time, a friend of mine was looking for a photographer to shoot weddings with her. It was a no-brainer.
While I was originally planning on just working as a second wedding photographer for my friend, almost immediately I found myself planning how I would run my own sessions and weddings. Once I suckered a few friends of mine into letting me be around them and their kids with a camera, I knew my original plan was a thing of the past.
And thus, Moments by Lauren (wish I had saved some of that creativity I have for my business name - OH WELL) was born.
